- Described: J.J. Smith in Bulletin de l'Institut Botanique de Buitenzorg, 7:1 (1900)
- History: This species was discovered in the Pegunungan Mountains in east Java in 1897 by Herrn J. Bekking.
- Etymology: Named for the waxy coating on the leaves. (glaucous, adj. - covered with a grayish, bluish, or whitish waxy coating that is easily rubbed off)

Plant Habit
- Leaves: 4-6, 20-30 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, basal margins ciliate
- Inflorescence: 20- or more flowered, opening sequentially, 15-20 cm long, green mottled purple, flowers spaced ~5 cm apart
- Bloom: 8-11 cm wide
- Plant: generally 1-3 growths in nature
