Paphiopedilum micranthum Tang & Wang
- Described: Tang & Wang in Acta Phytotaxinomica Sinica, 1: 56 (1951)
- Etymology: Derived from the Greek mikrotes, meaning smallness and anthos, meaning flower; named for the erroneusly described small size of the bloom. The description was probably based on a dissected bud.
- Varieties & Forms: Fowlie (1993) formally described 3 micranthum 'races' as var. eburneum, var. extendatum, & var. marginatum. None of these three probably deserve formal recognition, as the characteristics upon which they are segregated are quite variable and fall within the range of the typical Paph. micranthum. The form that does seem to warrant formal recognition is the albino:
- Paphiopedilum micranthum fma. glanzeanum (Gruss et Roeth, in Die Orchidee, Beiheft 2: 16-24 (1994)) Gruss et Roeth in Caesiana 12: 60 (1999)
- Synonyms:
- Paphiopedilum globulosum Liu & Chen, in Acta Phytotaxonomica Sinica, 40(4): 365, fig. 1 (2002)
- Paphiopedilum micranthum var. oblatum Liu & Chen, in Acta Phytotaxonomica Sinica, 40(4): 366 (2002)
- Paphiopedilum micranthum var. albo-flavum Braem, in Leaflets of the Schlechter Institute 1: 3-4 (1994)
