Plant Habit
- Leaves: 6-8, 7-14 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, extremely variable, above vividly tessellated dark and pale green, below sometimes suffused purple
- Inflorescence: 1-flowered, 20-55 cm long, green-purple, pubescent
- Bloom: up to 10 cm wide, extremely variable
Habitat Data
- Distribution -
- Elevation: sea level - 1850 m., commonly ~900 m.
- Peak Flowering in the Wild: Fowlie (1985): January-February; Fowlie (1986): March-June
- Ecology: stunted forests over sandstone
- Mean Temperature Range: 20-22°C
- Light: light shade
- Medium: mosses, humus, leaf litter, pH 4-4.5
- Water (D-drier, M-moderate, W-wetter) - Fowlie (1985): water in the compost pH 5.1
